Roberto Zuccaro

MY DEAR FRIENDS,

25 years pass in a flash, especially when you do something you love. These have been intense years, full of challenges and satisfaction. Above all, they have been very exciting years.

I would like to celebrate this moment with all of you—lifelong friends, partners, customers, suppliers, and collaborators—seeking the right words to express all my esteem and gratitude to you for helping to make this enterprise possible.

Inside, I still feel like the same young man passionate about electronics and technology that I was twenty-five years ago.

At the time, Connection was just a dream, an idea, a small group of people who wanted to create their own professional identity and earn their place in the world. We were fueled by the aspiration to overcome our limits.
We didn’t know if we would make it or not, but we knew we had to try. I was aware of the risks of the trade, but the confidence in our means and the desire to succeed were far stronger than the fear.
After all, failing is bad, but not trying is worse.

I knew that having good ideas was not enough; one had to find a way to realize them, to put them into practice in the real world. I always desired a business that had the capacity to be effective, to make ideas operational, and to constantly create new ones through a structured system.

Concreteness, but also passion. Economic results are a very important driver that pushes us to improve, but at the same time, we are aware in our hearts that they cannot be the sole motivation. We all need a direction in life, a goal that brings enthusiasm to our daily lives. An emotional drive, something that fuels our energy day after day. A vision and the strength to carry it forward.

Connection was my vision
and people were my strength.
And they still are.

I like to think of Connection as something that goes beyond the professional dimension.

Connection is a family. A group of people who every day commit themselves, help each other, and work side by side to build a better future for themselves and for others.

Emotional intelligence is the foundation of the ability to work with others. When I think of a client or supplier, I ask myself: What do they need? How can I be truly helpful in meeting their requirements? Does what I offer have added value that can make a difference? Seeking honest answers to questions like these means taking a step toward others, broadening one’s perspective. Understanding what matters and the values that drive people and companies is essential, because only when a client is truly satisfied are we satisfied as well.

Sometimes people refer to those who work in a company as employees, but that is not a definition I favor—I prefer to call them collaborators.

To be honest, I believe my greatest professional achievement is having assembled a wonderful team. There are men and women who have been with us for a long time and others who have arrived recently, also demonstrating great dedication. Together we have grown as individuals and as professionals. While it is true that some people stand out for their exceptional qualities, it is equally true that my team is among them.

There are no words that can express the extent of my gratitude for the responsibility, dedication, understanding, and support they have shown me over these years.

I hope they are as proud to work at Connection as I am to work with them, because it is thanks to their commitment and talent that today we can face the market with confidence and compete without hesitation even with the most prestigious companies.

In celebrating this achievement, I think much more about Connection’s future than its past.

Over the next ten years, our market will evolve more rapidly than ever, and today the most important thing is to decide which direction our path will take.

The dizzying pace of technological change fills us with optimism, not fear, because investing in innovation is part of our nature. Technology is the language of our time. Mastering it is a way to express ourselves, to have a voice and relevant arguments.

We are monitoring major global changes, from artificial intelligence to renewable energy, prioritizing long-term objectives rather than mediocre or short-term solutions.

And while the way we interact with machines and systems is changing rapidly, electrical and electronic components are evolving in parallel. The trend toward component miniaturization represents another opportunity for us to make a difference.

We are developing and designing processes that can integrate into increasingly intelligent systems and networks, responding to a much broader variety of functions, and we expect to work with clients from a wider range of sectors than in the past. In the future, we will continue to cultivate many of Connection’s most distinctive characteristics.

The ability to customize a project has always been one of our strengths, and we expect this quality to become increasingly relevant in the market. As far as I can recall, there have never been two identical projects at Connection, and we will increasingly face unique and specific challenges and requirements.

At the same time, we will continue to contribute to a more sustainable future.

We will do our part by optimizing energy consumption and reducing the carbon footprint of industrial processes.
For us, sustainability means producing to pass on. With healthy processes, with reasonableness, drawing on traditional know-how to create innovation.

Our greatest ambition is to root innovation ever more firmly in our organization, making it flourish in our structures and behaviors. Because innovation is not something that happens by chance. Technologically advanced machinery can always be purchased, but a culture of innovation must be built brick by brick.

If I were to make a wish today, blowing out twenty-five candles, I would hope that none of us ever lose the curiosity, the spirit of collaboration, and the energy that allowed us to get this far.

I have always thought that among the processes, technologies, and operations of a company, there, somewhere, is something more fascinating. It is something subtle, intangible, a sort of collective energy that radiates through our work. It adds value to what we do and fuels the pleasure of taking this journey together.

I have spent a lifetime studying, working, and investing in energy in its various forms. From a technical and technological point of view, for me and my team, that type of energy holds no secrets. Yet, from a broader perspective, thinking about the energy that animates people, the concept becomes more elusive and even more fascinating.

Science has shown that energy is everywhere around us, hidden right before our eyes.

Even if we cannot always perceive it with our senses, it has a profound impact on our stories and our way of life. The energy of the workplace and that of the people we work with is also contagious. It can make us feel safe, happy, and motivated. Sometimes it happens without us noticing, and in the same way, we might be unaware of the effect our energy has on others.

On the occasion of Connection’s twenty-fifth anniversary, I decided to undertake a special project, which gives this publication its name. Energia 25 explores the relationship between Man and Energy. Where do we find the energy to realize our projects? How do we transfer it to other people? And what does it look like?

I involved 25 people who over the years have been instrumental in transmitting to me and to Connection all the energy necessary to reach this milestone. I am fascinated by the idea that their stories, experiences, and visions can find an artistic representation, so that the same energy that fueled our success can be shared with all of you.
