Roberto Zuccaro

MY DEAR FRIENDS,

25 years go by in a flash, especially when you are doing something you love. These have been intense years, full of challenges and rewards. Above all, they have been years of immense passion.

I want to celebrate this milestone with all of you – lifelong friends, partners, clients, suppliers, and collaborators. I am searching for the right words to express my deep respect and gratitude for your role in making this undertaking possible.

Inside, I still feel like that same boy, passionate about electronics and technology, that I was twenty-five years ago.

Back then, Connection was just a dream, an idea, a small group of people who wanted to create their own professional identity and earn their place in the world. We were fueled by the aspiration to push beyond our limits. We didn’t know if we would make it, but we knew we had to try. I was aware of the risks of the trade, but our confidence and the will to succeed were far stronger than any fear. After all, failure is tough, but never trying is even worse.

I knew that good ideas weren’t enough. We had to find a way to make them real, to put them into practice in the real world. I always envisioned a business that was effective, capable of turning ideas into operations and constantly generating new ones through a structured system.

Pragmatism, fueled by passion. Economic results are a vital spark that drives us to improve, but we know in our hearts they cannot be the only motivation. We all need a direction in life, a goal that brings enthusiasm to our daily routine – an emotional drive that feeds our energy day after day. A vision and the strength to carry it forward.

Connection was my vision
and people were my strength.
And they still are.

I like to think of Connection as something that goes beyond the professional dimension.

Connection is a family. A group of people who commit themselves every day, helping one another and working side-by-side to build a better future for themselves and others.

Emotional intelligence is the foundation of working with others. When I think of a client or a supplier, I ask myself: What do they need? How can I be truly helpful? Does what I offer provide a value-added difference? Seeking honest answers to these questions means taking a step toward others and broadening one’s perspective. Understanding the values that move people and companies is essential, because we are only truly satisfied when our clients are.

Sometimes, people in a company are referred to as “employees,” but that is not a term I am fond of.
I prefer to call them collaborators.

To be honest, I believe my greatest professional success has been building this wonderful team. We have men and women who have been with us for a long time and others who arrived recently, already showing a great sense of belonging. Together, we have grown as individuals and as professionals. If it is true that some people stand out for their excellence, my team is certainly among them.

Words cannot measure my gratitude for the responsibility, loyalty, and closeness they have shown me over the years.

I hope they are as proud to work at Connection as I am to work with them. It is thanks to their talent that we can face the market with our heads held high, competing without hesitation against even the most renowned corporations.

As I celebrate this achievement, my mind is on the future of Connection even more than its past.

Over the next ten years, our market will evolve faster than ever.

The dizzying pace of technological change fills us with optimism, not fear, because investing in innovation is in our nature. Technology is the language of our time; mastering it is how we express ourselves and remain relevant.

We are closely watching global shifts – from Artificial Intelligence to renewable energy – prioritizing long-term goals over mediocre, short-term fixes.

As the way we interact with machines changes, so does the evolution of electrical and electronic components. The trend toward miniaturization is another opportunity for us to make a difference.

We are designing processes that integrate into increasingly intelligent networks, serving a wider variety of sectors than ever before. We will continue to cultivate Connection’s most distinctive traits: our ability to customize will remain a cornerstone of our success.

The ability to customize a project has always been one of our strengths, and we expect this quality to become increasingly relevant in the market. As far as I can recall, there have never been two identical projects at Connection, and we will increasingly face unique and specific challenges and requirements.

At the same time, we remain committed to a sustainable future.

We will do our part by optimizing energy consumption and reducing the carbon footprint of industrial processes.
For us, sustainability means producing to leave a legacy—through healthy processes and by drawing on traditional know-how to create innovation.

Our greatest ambition is to root innovation even more deeply within our organization. A high-tech machine can always be bought, but a culture of innovation must be built brick by brick.

If I were to make a wish while blowing out these twenty-five candles, it would be that none of us ever lose the curiosity, the spirit of collaboration, and the energy that brought us here.

I have always believed that between the processes and technologies of a company, there is something more fascinating: a subtle, intangible, collective energy that radiates through our work. It is what adds value to what we do and fuels the pleasure of this journey together.

I have spent a lifetime studying and investing in energy in all its forms. Technically, that energy has no secrets from us. Yet, in a broader sense, the energy that animates people is even more fascinating.

Science shows that energy is everywhere, hidden in plain sight.

It has a profound impact on our stories. The energy of a workplace and of the people we work with is contagious, it makes us feel safe, happy and motivated.

To mark this 25th anniversary, I decided to undertake a special project, which gives this publication its name. Energia 25 explores the relationship between Man and Energy. Where do we find the energy to realize our projects? How do we transfer it to other people? And what does it look like?

I have involved 25 people who have been instrumental in giving me and Connection the energy needed to reach this milestone. I am fascinated by the idea that their stories and visions can find an artistic representation, so that the same energy that fueled our success can be shared with all of you.
