Roberto Zuccaro:
the company as a connection.

There is a particular energy inhabiting this place, made of glances, gestures, and words that intertwine naturally. A continuous flow that runs between people, even before it flows through cables and circuits. Roberto Zuccaro, founder and CEO of Connection, does not declare this with slogans: he lives it, he embodies it. For twenty-five years.

It all began in the late 1990s, in a garage. An idea born between two friends, the desire to build an independent professional identity, the courage—perhaps reckless, but necessary—to try. By day, they worked in a testing laboratory for machine compliance; by night, they assembled the first electrical panels. Sometimes going without sleep for days just to deliver on time. It wasn’t just dedication. It was a life choice.

Over time the path became clearer, and even if the journey was not always linear—partners changed, collaborations were recalibrated—one thing remained clear: the company must resemble the people who lead it. “It couldn’t go wrong,” Zuccaro says today, with a conviction that is not at all arrogant. It is that calm certainty that comes from those who work with method, responsibility, and passion.

Today, Connection is one of the most advanced companies in Northern Italy in the design and production of industrial electrical panels.

Two plants, located just a few meters from each other, house the serial production of small and medium-sized panels and the production of large-scale, high-power single batches, respectively. The two sites are perfectly interconnected through a digital infrastructure, with over 80 iPads provided to operators, allowing for instantaneous communication, traceability, planning, and real-time updates.
An infrastructure born from a pioneering vision: as early as 2010, Connection introduced the iPad into production, accompanied by a proprietary app developed in-house. From a simple information channel, the app evolved into a complete work tool, integrated with the ERP system, capable of distributing data, collecting feedback, reporting anomalies, and even blocking critical production steps in real time. A true silent revolution. Everything is designed to make the process fluid, safe, and replicable. It is not the product that distinguishes Connection, but the way it is made.

Yet, if you ask Roberto what the true heart of the company is, he does not talk about software. He talks about people.

“I cannot expect people to work well if I do not provide them with the conditions to do so,” he says simply. This simplicity is not a cliché, but a culture. The company atmosphere, well-being, and listening—even to personal problems—are not secondary gestures, but an integral part of the industrial project. Because here, productivity is a consequence, not an imposition.

This focus has a tangible reflection: many employees joined straight out of school and have never left. Others, coming from different backgrounds, say they found an environment at Connection “that is not so common elsewhere.” It is in these small, continuous daily confirmations that the quality of a company is measured.

Over the years, the company has grown consistently. Today, turnover is nearly 15 million euros, with an increasingly structured organization oriented toward professional management. In addition to the technical office, composed of eight people, there are managers for sales, production, planning, administration, quality, safety, environment, integrated management systems, and—recently—human resources. It is a solid network that enables the company to handle complexity without sacrificing proximity.

The introduction of the HR role was one of the most delicate transitions. “Delegating human relationships with people is the most difficult part,” Zuccaro admits. Because listening, welcoming, and being there—even for just five minutes—was always something he felt was his own. But growing also means this: building trust and passing the torch without losing the company’s soul.

One of the most clear-headed and distinctive strategic choices was to never depend on a single client. No single client can account for more than 20% of the turnover. This approach ensures autonomy, continuity, and the ability to face market fluctuations with stability.

Today, Connection works across various sectors: HVAC, heating, refrigeration, air treatment, automation, plastics, and pharmaceuticals. It is a diverse client portfolio built on trust and the ability to solve problems.

“Investing in technology is fundamental, but it is not enough,” Zuccaro explains. “Because even the most advanced machinery is useless without the right people.”

This is the hallmark of Connection: an innovation that is not spectacular, but profound. One that is embedded in behaviors, processes, and daily life.

And this very soul emerged strongly on the occasion of the company’s twenty-fifth anniversary. A special moment, celebrated with a monograph titled “Energia 25,” dedicated to what truly moves Connection: the invisible but constant force of relationships, visions, and passion. “Between processes, technologies, and operations, there is something more fascinating: a collective energy that radiates through our work,” Zuccaro wrote on that occasion.

An energy that is not measured in kilowatt-hours, but in enthusiasm. In trust. In connections. The real ones.
