Designing and sizing control panels: making space count.

Does space matter in control panel design?

Of course. Now more than ever.

Industrial machines are becoming increasingly advanced, high-performing and technologically complex. At the same time, the space available to integrate the control panel is constantly shrinking.
Furthermore, every machine has unique characteristics and constraints. Dimensions, power requirements, components, operating conditions and accessibility make each project different from the last.
That is why designing a control panel goes beyond simply defining parts, power ratings and wiring. It means engineering a custom solution strictly tailored to the actual needs of the machine it will serve.

Designing and sizing control panels: the project analysis phase.

Our Technical Department drives every project right from the start. First, we review the client’s goals and machine specifications, analyzing spatial limits, technical requirements and constraints to select the right solution. Next, we design and size the control panel and draft the electrical schematics.

Proper sizing is more critical than ever today. Modern machines integrate more functions and technology, even as the space allocated to electrical components continues to shrink. The challenge is fitting everything required into the available space without compromising on functionality, safety, accessibility or maintainability.

It’s not just about making a smaller panel. It’s about striking the right balance between electrical requirements and the needs of the overall machine.

From concept to production: our integrated panel building process.

Once the project is defined, Procurement and Planning work together to ensure all components are ready for panel assembly and wiring. This process is backed by a digital infrastructure connecting our offices directly to the shop floor. With over 80 iPads on-site, operators have instant access to essential production data – streamlining internal communication, process traceability as well as activity scheduling.

Designing the panel with the machine in mind.

An industrial automation control panel cannot be designed in isolation from the machine it controls. Available space, wiring, components, accessibility and maintenance must be factored in right from the start. That’s why our design and production teams work in close synergy to build efficient, reliable control panels that integrate seamlessly into the machine. From initial customer consultations to design, wiring, and final assembly, Connection ensures every component fits perfectly and enhances overall system performance.

When automation needs rise and available space tightens, smart control panel design is what truly sets you apart.
